UDP Was a Deliberate Starting Point for the PBX MVP
Transport choice should match the test objective before adding more complexity.
The acceptance condition for UDP Was a Deliberate Starting Point for the PBX MVP only became clear after the system was split into boundaries. The LOUP MVP registered to Asterisk over UDP while the team stabilized basic call behaviour.
UDP keeps the initial signalling path simple and makes packet capture direct. It does not remove the need for authentication, retransmission handling or later transport-security decisions. Starting simple was useful because audio and dialog issues could be diagnosed without mixing in TLS session problems at the same time.
The design became clearer when configuration, runtime state and recovery behaviour were specified separately instead of being implied by implementation details. Evidence marker: sip-udp-mvp.
Sequence complexity. Prove the protocol path first, then add the transport properties required for production. Once that contract is written down, firmware and server changes can be reviewed against the same expectation instead of relying on memory.
