Firmware Acceptance Should End in an Observable ACTIVE State

A successful download is not the same thing as a successful deployment.

Current. Current technical engineering note derived from LOUP device, firmware, telephony, audio, OTA and production work.

The practical ownership question in Firmware Acceptance Should End in an Observable ACTIVE State was simple to state and harder to prove. The LOUP deployment flow expects a device to report that the assigned release is running and accepted before the assignment becomes ACTIVE.

That gives the backend evidence beyond download completion. The unit has booted the intended image, survived its validation path and correlated the running release with the assignment. Operators can then distinguish requested, installed, rolled back, blocked and active states.

The debugging order stayed conservative: verify wiring and state transitions first, then tune performance only after correctness had been established. Evidence marker: firmware-accepted-active.

Deployment status should describe what is running now, not what the server hoped the device would run. The broader result is a system that can be changed incrementally because each layer has a measurable responsibility and a known recovery path.
