Call, Volume and Mute Deserve Dedicated Controls
Critical in-call actions should not require navigating back to a menu.
Call, Volume and Mute Deserve Dedicated Controls became a separate note because the failure crossed more than one subsystem. LOUP keeps dedicated call, volume up/down and mute controls alongside the rotary navigation input.
These actions have immediate audio or signalling effects and are used while the user is listening rather than studying the display. Mapping them directly to call-state transitions also keeps accessibility and failure behavior predictable when e-paper refresh is delayed.
The fix came from assigning one owner to the behaviour and refusing to hide a hardware or network fault with an unrelated firmware workaround. Evidence marker: physical-call-controls.
Frequent real-time actions benefit from fixed controls; menus are better for choices that can wait. The value is not only the fix itself; it is having a repeatable way to prove the same class of failure has not returned.
