A Device SIP Account Should Be Rotatable Without Reflashing Firmware

Telephony credentials are runtime configuration, not compiled product identity.

Current. Current technical engineering note derived from LOUP device, firmware, telephony, audio, OTA and production work.

The lab result behind A Device SIP Account Should Be Rotatable Without Reflashing Firmware changed the implementation more than the first hypothesis did. LOUP firmware accepts PBX server, port, transport, realm, username and password from the backend rather than baking them into the binary.

That lets one compromised account be revoked and replaced without producing a new firmware image. It also separates firmware release cadence from telephony operations and allows lab, staging and production PBXs to use the same application build with different configuration.

Reversibility stayed part of the experiment: preserve the previous artifact, make the change, then prove the new path before promoting it. Evidence marker: runtime-sip-config.

Secrets and endpoints that change operationally should not require a compiler to rotate. Preserving that distinction is what lets the project increase complexity without losing the ability to explain a regression.
